With all of these fun 2017 resolutions, you’re going to need some mantras or quotes or sayings or whatever you’d like to call them to help you achieve them!
Today I’m sharing what I repeat to myself (like a crazy person) when I need a little extra motivation.
Health Related Mantras
“I am stronger than I think”
-This is particularly useful when you’re only half-way through your last set or circuit and need some great inspiration. You’re stronger than you think and you can finish strong!
“I am strong”
-Believing you’re strong is the very first step. Yes you can finish those reps, you can add more weight because you are strong.
“I’m fueling my body with good things”
-I have to remind myself that eating isn’t about making my emotions better, but rather fueling my body for the best life that I can live. You’re fueling your body so that you can think, dream, work, play and live better.
“I am making progress”
-This can be really hard if I’m not immediately seeing progress. But every time you complete a workout, push yourself to go a little longer, take a rest day, and eat something healthy instead of junk food you’re making progress. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
Hustle Related Mantras
“I have to start somewhere”
-When you feel overwhelmed at everything you need to do to get where you’re going, remember that you have to start somewhere. Oprah started somewhere, Michelle Obama started somewhere and your favorite blogger started somewhere.
Speaking of Oprah…
“You get for in life what you have the courage to ask for”
-Oprah knows what’s up. You can’t be mad something isn’t happening if you aren’t asking for it. Reach out to people in your industry, ask to get coffee with them and see what their advice is. Don’t be discouraged if they can’t meet, just find someone else. Ask for more responsibility at work, or ask for more in your relationships. You have the courage, you can do it!
“I can do anything, but not everything”
-You can do whatever you set your mind to but you can’t possibly do everything yourself. Delegate, pick and choose or just decide you won’t do it.
“I am capable. I have a great work ethic. I can get this done”
-Sometimes when you’re just not feeling it, you might be thinking “ugh I’m lazy”. Thinking that you’re capable, that you have a great work ethic and that you can get it done is the perfect change of thought.
“It doesn’t matter how far others are, it matters how far I’ve come”
-With blogging, social media and life in general we can forget that people have struggles too. It doesn’t matter where other people are, it matters where you are and how you’re going to get better.
“Grace, grace, grace”
-This is one that we all need to remember. At the moment your significant other is doing/saying the one thing that makes you crazy, or your mom is bringing up that one subject you really don’t want to talk about, say this. When you’re being annoying, overstepping or putting your foot in your mouth, you want your loved ones and people around you to give you some grace.
“Acts of love, no matter how small, are always helpful”
-Sometimes we get so caught up in what other people should be doing for us, we forget to do things for others. Sometimes the smallest act of love, like remembering a big day or bringing them a cup of coffee, can make all the difference!
“Live in the moment, focus on what’s right in front of me”
-Phones are super great, but also this annoying crutch for us! Put your phone, laptop, and tablet away and have a nice dinner with your loved ones at night. You’ll be surprised what you learn when you aren’t distracted!
Mental Health Mantras
“I am enough just the way I am”
-In moments of self-doubt, remind yourself that you are whole just the way you are. Another person, trip or item will not make you more than you are.
“I deserve love, happiness and health”
– There is nothing more other than existing that you need to do to deserve love, happiness and health. Remind yourself of that when you’re feeling down.
“It’s just one bad day, not a bad life”
-Let me tell you how dramatic I can get. I have one bad day and I get really cranky. Remind yourself that it’s just one bad day, but it’s not a bad life. In fact my bad days probably aren’t that bad. You’ll have bad days, so grab a bottle or wine or a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. Wallow a little bit in the bad day, but then wake up the next morning ready to take on the day!
“It’s okay not to be okay”
-I was not “okay” for awhile in 2016. Something wasn’t right and I didn’t know how to fix it right away. That is totally okay. As long as you’re moving forward its okay not to be okay. Sometimes you can’t fix things right away.
I hope that these help you with your 2017 resolutions and goals! Do you have any mantras that you use? Let me know in the comments!
