This year has been a whirlwind. I started 2017 unemployed, with a different last name, and in a completely different place mentally than I am now. It’s crazy what big changes can happen in mere weeks, but also how crazy different it is as the year passes.
Today I wanted to recap this year, because one of the best ways to move forward is to look back. Here are my best moments from 2017!
The first two months of the year were full of job searching and starting a new job! In March, I got to spend time with my mom and sister in NYC!
Matt’s two best friends, and some of my close friends as well, came to visit us on their spring break! It was the best time, and we’re so grateful for friends who travel to comes see us!
In April we moved apartments, and it’s so crazy how much more “us” this apartment feels. We love our new neighborhood, and have really moved in easily.
In May Matt and I got to see Matt’s brother propose to his girlfriend, now fiancé! It was so fun and special being there, and I can’t tell you how excited I am for Erica to be my sister! We already have so much fun as a family, and it’s great getting to do things in life together.
Memorial Day weekend we flew down to Louisville, KY to judge a high school debate tournament and we got to see some of our favorite people!
In June we headed home for graduation parties and wedding meetings. There’s just something about our hometown and the surrounding area that makes me feel more grounded.
My best friend came to visit in June so that we could spend the weekend together!
Spent the weekend with a German family friend, and headed to Salem for the day!
Getting my Wisconsin fix in.
My two best friends at my bridal shower! So lucky to have these two.
Got drinks at Bully Boy with a new group of girlfriends!
Brunch with our German friends 2 weeks before our wedding!
I married my favorite person in front of our favorite people. It was the best weekend ever, and I can’t wait to share more photos from our big day with you!
We went to Vermont for our “mini-moon”
My parents came to visit for the weekend with their friends!
We made a Thanksgiving dinner just for the two of us!
A gorgeous snowfall in Boston!
Our yearly gingerbread house!
Merry Christmas from the Vickney siblings!
This year has been full of some really, really hard moments, but also some of the best. Changing jobs twice to finally be in a place where I feel challenged and appreciated, to becoming the wife. It’s been a hectic year, but I’m so lucky to have had the support and love from our family and friends.
Thank you for reading this little corner of the internet! It’s been one of the best hobbies I could have picked up, and the community I’ve become apart of is uplifting and supportive.
I hope that you’re able to end 2017 with a sense of accomplishment. Here’s to 2018 and all that lies ahead!
